A Victorian first at Wimmera Field Days 2018

Case IH Steiger CVT

Visitors who drop by the O’Connors Farm Machinery site at this year’s Wimmera Machinery Field Days are up for an action packed three days, with the innaugural Victorian appearance of the newly released Steiger® CVT, as well as daily talks and panel sessions with a strong hay focus.

The new Case IH Steiger CVT

Officially launched in Australia in August 2017, but yet to make its Victorian debut, the Steiger CVT is the world’s first articulated tractor with Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). It’s the latest move by Case IH to make the lives of Australian producers easier.

The Steiger CVT will on display at the O’Connor’s site for the three days of the event, with an opportunity for visitors to get up close and learn more about its capabilities from Case IH product experts, including High Horsepower Tractor Product Manager for Australia/New Zealand, Alyx Selsmeyer.

“The Continuously Variable Transmission offers so many benefits for the tractor operator and we’re excited our Australian customers have the opportunity to put it to the test,” said Alyx.

“As well as noticing cost savings where fuel consumption is concerned, the CVT makes the tractor more user-friendly for operators of all skill levels and its features contribute to smooth operation and increased comfort for those behind the controls.”

In addition to targeting fuel efficiency and operator fatigue, the CVT transmission provides faster acceleration to field or road speed, full power availability at low ground speeds for special applications and implements, and full hydraulic flow availability at low ground speeds, for the likes of drilling and planting. The result is increased productivity with faster cycle times and maximum fuel efficiency.

Alyx and her colleagues will be introducing the full range of features of this new and industry leading technology daily and will be on-site to answer questions throughout the three days.

Product experts will also be available during the Field Days to discuss all things hay and harvest, with Case IH product specialists Tim Slater and Andrew Wood conducting daily walkarounds of cutting-edge Case IH hay and harvest equipment, including the Case IH Axial Flow 7240 and 8240 combine harvesters and the head-turning Case IH LB434S XL large square baler.

Daily Hay Info Sessions

The Case IH range of hay has never been better and this year O’Connors is bringing to Wimmera an independent panel of experts to discuss the ins and outs of hay production. The panel sessions will be conducted at 11am daily at the O’Connors stand and will feature the latest advice and opinions from agronomists, hay exporters, farmers and hay contractors.

Presentations from each panel member will focus on the actual intricacies of growing hay crops including the cutting and preparation of hay for baling; weed management versus cutting for hay; effective cutting and drying techniques; and what exporters are looking for. Following the presentations there will be a Q & A session facilitated by O’Connors Sales Managers.

Visitors can find O’Connors at Site J1-18 , where they can participate in the panel sessions and daily machine walk arounds, pick up some merchandise and meet the Case IH and O’Connors staff and representatives.
