O’Connors continues to proudly give back to the communities surrounding its fifteen dealerships, providing support to encourage participation, to empower the groups and associations that do great things in our regions and to improve the livability and the vibrancy of the towns and the people that support us.
At O’Connors we aim to support our local communities through various avenues. Providing financial sponsorship to a range of groups, clubs and charities, donating goods and services to worthwhile causes and engaging with opportunities such as work experience programs and school-based apprenticeship programs.
Longerenong College – Longy
O’Connors always shared a strong relationship with Longerenong College and the people studying and working there.
Officially, we started this partnership with the hand-over of two brand new Case IH tractors in July 2015 equipped with the latest farming technology.
The next generation of farmers and agricultural students are not only getting exposed to the latest Case IH technology.
They are also having access to the product and precision farming specialists from O’Connors and are getting trained in best farming practices.
Horizon Committee Postie Bike Adventure
The Postie Bike Challenge provides a unique motorcycle adventure while also supporting community groups through either direct donations or by payment for services. So far we have racked up nearly 2 million kilometers on small Honda motorcycles and injected over $1 million into community and charity groups.
The event is run by the Horizon Committee Inc. who have been involved in fundraising for cancer support services since 2004 and raised over $2.5m for Australian Cancer Research.
Oaklands Harvest Ball
The Oaklands Riverina Harvest Ball is an event designed to bring the local community together to celebrate the upcoming grain harvest.
It provides an opportunity for people in the region to network and discuss their plans for the upcoming harvest season, and to enjoy themselves prior to the demanding workload of harvest.
Rupanyup Barley Banquet
The Rupanyup Barley Banquet is a significant annual community and charity event organised by Rupanyup Major Events. The black-tie event is held in a local farmer’s barley paddock and attracts up to 400 people from all over the region and beyond.
It is a major fundraiser for the local Rupanyup community as well as an important and unique social outing that promotes agriculture and rural Victoria. From its inception by a group of young farmers in 1995 to date, Rupanyup Major Events Barley Banquet has raised more than $250,000 for local projects and community services.
Mellow in the Yellow
Mellow in the Yellow is an annual event to celebrate Australian farming communities.
Held in a flowering canola crop in the Tatyoon district, funds raised are distributed to various community incentives that aim to strengthen the health and well-being of farmers and their communities, including the National Centre for Farmer Health, The Resilience Project, Mental Health First Aid training and Farming Women’s Health Workshops.
